What is the applicability of emerging digital technologies such as Microsoft’s Hololens to our industry? Come and experience how this mixed-reality technology can be used to facilitate decision-making, increase team communications, and provide immersive data visualization experiences regardless of whether you are a site owner, regulator, or consultant.

Overview: Mixed reality technology, such as Microsoft’s Hololens, allows a site owner, regulator, or subject matter expert to be able to instantaneously view and experience field conditions, construction progress, a site walk, or oversee sampling, hundreds or even thousands of miles away, from the comfort of their own desk. In addition, it allows three-dimensional data visualization models, which were previously only viewed in two dimensions on a computer screen, to be viewed in an immersive environment. In this demonstration, Arcadis will show how a Hololens can be used to facilitate construction quality assurance during implementation, as well as view and interact with site data in new ways. The experience will be viewable to the audience on a large projector screen, and the technology will be available at Arcadis’ sponsor booth after the Learning Lab for individuals to try on and experience directly.
